This is a series of monoprints. This means that rather than an edition, only one print is taken using oil based ink. Often, this is further worked using oils and acrylics. These are unique, one off works, which is reflected in the price.
People often ask "why print rather than paint if there is to be only one image?" There are qualities to the printed image which are unique and cannot be achieved by any other means.
These prints attempt to capture the compelling magic of Fred Astaire and his partners. They do not try to portray the actual looks of Fred Astaire. What was important to Barbara is capturing the movement.
